“Friendly Connections has been a very good and kind resource during this pandemic. It has been a pleasure being connected to Friendly Connections every single Tuesday.”

The Story of Friendly Connections
When the pandemic began, many people with an intellectual disability were experiencing increased social isolation, something that can be scary and lonely for all of us.
Staying connected with the people we care about keeps us happy, healthy and safe. Talking to a friend on Zoom, doing an activity we love, or getting mail from a loved one are all things that lift our spirits.
With this in mind, we launched a new program called Friendly Connections in June 2020.
Run by ConnectABILITY, this free interactive service helps people with an intellectual disability stay socially connected.
After filling out a simple and quick online form, participants can receive some fun mail or have an uplifting, positive conversation.
The program has been so popular that, to date, over 1900 connections have been made! That's 1,000 connections a year, 83 a month, 20 a week or 3 every single day!
Jennifer Devenish, Lead Coordinator of Friendly Connections says:

“I have heard so much positive feedback from our clients. They really look forward to their connections, whether its a phone call or an activity sheet with stickers in the mail. I think the best part about the program is you get to choose how you want to connect."

Friendly Connections is just one of the amazing CLTO programs supported by the generosity of people like you. Your donation will make a difference in the life of someone experiencing social isolation!
“I liked joining Friendly Connections. I like chatting. You guys make my life happy. We have lots of chuckles.”
