ME & LAU Family Foundation Scholarship

The purpose of the ME & Lau Family Foundation (“ME” hereafter) Scholarship is to encourage and promote the attainment of higher education goals for individuals with a proven financial need. Consideration will be given to students who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement, who have made a positive contribution to people with intellectual disabilities through involvement in extracurricular activities, and who have made significant contributions of time and energy to community services programs.

The Scholarship will be $1,200 (in Canadian Dollars) to a student pursuing post-secondary education who is selected by ME & Lau Family Foundation’s Awards/Scholarships Committee. The funder reserves the right to interview each candidate prior to making a final decision. The purpose of the Scholarship is for post-secondary education expenses such as tuition, books, supplies, and other related expenses. The Scholarship is awarded only in the student’s first year at a post-secondary institution and as such applications are limited to one per candidate.


Eligibility

Applicants must meet all the following criteria:

Residency

  • Be a student currently in their final year of high school and will be attending a postsecondary institution in the fall to pursue a minimum of 2 years of full-time study leading to a degree or diploma, in a public college or university within Canada.
  • Successfully obtain and provide a copy of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Income

  • Provide supporting documentation of family income threshold of $140,000 or below. In the case where no parental support is provided to the student a copy of the Family Breakdown application submitted to OSAP.

Extra-curricular Involvements

  • Have made a positive contribution to people with an intellectual disability.
